Anzac Day wreaths "Lest We Forget"

Did you know that last year the following services were held here on the Gold Coast.  ANZAC Day is one of Australia's most important national commemorative occasions. BURLEIGH HEADS DAWN SERVICE — 4.15AM

War Memorial Park, Burleigh Heads Cenotaph, corner of Connor Street and Gold Coast Highway for a 4.28am service (no march).

Burleigh Heads Citizens Service — 9.30am

March assembles at 9.15am, corner of West Street and James Street, Burleigh Heads. March commences at 9.30am down to War Memorial Park, Burleigh Heads Cenotaph, corner of Connor Street and Gold Coast Highway. The service will commence at approximately 10am.

Coolangatta/Tweed Heads Dawn Service — 5.55am

Assemble on the pathway behind Chris Cunningham Park, Wharf Street, Tweed Heads at 5.45am. March commences at 5.55am. Following the march, breakfast is available from Twin Towns Services Club for $10 per person.

After the dawn breakfast, a short service will be held at the Tweed Heads South Cemetery at 9.15am, followed by Tweed Heads Cemetery at 9.35am. A bus will be provided from the main entrance of Twin Towns Services Club to the cemeteries, departing at 8.15am for those that wish to attend.

Coolangatta/Tweed Heads Citizens Service — 10.30am

Assemble in Goodwin Park, Coolangatta from 10am. Children’s parade will march at 10.25am from Chalk Street. Vintage cars and minibuses carrying veterans will move off at 10.25am from Jarvis Lane on the northern side of Goodwin Park.

The main parade will march from 10.30am from Goodwin Park to the War Memorial in Chris Cunningham Park, where the service will be held at approximately 11am.

Tweed Heads/Coolangatta RSL Sub Branch, Joe Russell — 07 5536 1164

Currumbin Dawn Service — 4.45am

Shuttle service to commence at 3:30am from Currumbin RSL, The Pines Shopping Centre, Currumbin Fair Shopping Centre (Currumbin Waters) and the Tugun Community Hall, running continuously until the commencement of the dawn service.

After the dawn service, return buses will depart from the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.

March assembles at 4.30am at Murraba Street, Currumbin. March commences at 4.45am followed by the dawn service at 5am at Elephant Rock, Currumbin Beach. Gunfire breakfast served at Currumbin RSL from 6.30am (veterans free, other patrons gold coin donation).

Currumbin Mid-Morning Service — 10.55am

March assembles at 10.40am at Winders Park, Duringan Street, Currumbin. March off at 10.55am with the mid-morning service commencing at 11.15am at the Cenotaph at Currumbin RSL.

Mudgeeraba Dawn Service — 5am

The Cenotaph, Elsie Laver Park, Railway Street, Mudgeeraba. Service only (no march) commencing at 5am followed by a gunfire breakfast at Memorial Hall, Railway Street (gold coin donation).

Mudgeeraba Sunset Service — 3.40pm

March will commence from Memorial Hall, Railway Street at 3.40pm, proceeding to the Cenotaph at Elsie Laver Park, Railway Street, Mudgeeraba for the service. Refreshments and a BBQ will be available at the Memorial Hall after the service.

Mudgeeraba RSL Sub Branch, Shakey Lake — 0411 742 539

Nerang Dawn Service — 5.15am

Nerang RSL Memorial Club, 69 Nerang Street, Nerang. Service only (no march) to commence at 5.15am, followed by a gunfire breakfast at the Nerang RSL.

Note that the RSL and Memorial Club will still be operating, however facilities will be restricted due to the ongoing redevelopment. Gunfire breakfast and light snacks will be available.

Nerang Citizens Service — 9.30am

Form up from 9.15am at Bischoff Park. March to commence from Bischoff Park, Nerang Street, Nerang at approx 9.30am, proceeding in a westerly direction to the Nerang RSL and Memorial Club where the Cenotaph is located.

The main service will commence at the Cenotaph after the march arrives and will continue until approximately 10.30am.

North Gold Coast RSL (Helensvale) Dawn Service — 5.25am

Assembly from 5.10am in the grounds behind Club Helensvale, 20-28 Discovery Drive, Helensvale with the service commencing at 5.25am. Parking is limited, please use the Helensvale Community Centre parking area. Service only (no march).

Following the service the ‘traditional’ breakfast will be served at the club, $7.00 per person, all welcome.

North Gold Coast RSL (Upper Coomera) Mid-Morning Service — 10:50am

Service will commence at 10:50am with a veterans march from the City of Gold Coast Community Centre car park in Abraham Road, Upper Coomera, and proceed along the footpath onto the memorial site at the corner of Abraham and Reserve Roads.

North Gold Coast RSL Sub Branch, Secretary — 07 5502 8054

Pimpama/Ormeau Service — 8.45am

Service will commence at 8.45am (service only, no march) at the ANZAC War Memorial in the grounds of the Pimpama Uniting Church, Old Pacific Highway, Pimpama.

Following the service a morning tea will be served in the Church Hall.

Robina Citizens Service — 8.30am

March will assemble at 8am in Arbour Lane, Robina Town Centre. March moves off at 8.30am across the road into the Robina Community Centre auditorium. Service will commence at 8.45am and will conclude at approximately 9.45am. Following the service a morning tea will be provided in the foyer.

Gold Coast Eisteddfod, Judith Ferber — 07 5689 1651

Runaway Bay Dawn Service — 5am

ANZAC Memorial, Runaway Bay RSL Sub Branch Cenotaph, off Lae Drive, Runaway Bay. Arrive at 4.45am for a 5am start. Memorial service only (no march).

Followed by a gunfire breakfast that will be held at the Seagulls Rugby League Club, $5 per person.

Runaway Bay Citizens Service — 9.30am

ANZAC Memorial, Runaway Bay RSL Sub Branch Cenotaph, off Lae Drive, Runaway Bay. March assembles at 9am at the Junior Rugby League Club on Morala Avenue and departs at 9.30am.

The march will be followed by a 10am service at the ANZAC Memorial at the Runaway Bay sports ground (next to the Library).

Southport RSL Dawn Service — 5am

March commences at 5am from RSL Club Southport, on the corner of Nerang Street and Scarborough Street, proceeding south to Short Street, Short Street to Marine Parade, Marine Parade to ANZAC Park.

The dawn service commences at 5.15am at ANZAC Park War Memorial, Marine Parade, Southport. A gunfire breakfast will be served from 5.45am, gold coin donation for non-service personnel.

From 5am to 7am the following roads will be closed: Short Street, Marine Parade to Gold Coast Highway between Nind Street and Ada Bell Way to ANZAC Park.

Southport Citizens Service — 8am

Citizens’ march will assemble at RSL Club Southport at 8am on the corner of Nerang Street and Scarborough Street, proceeding south to Short Street, Short Street to Marine Parade, Marine Parade and arrive at ANZAC Park, Marine Parade, Southport at 8.55am. The service will commence at 9am.

The Southport RSL will be open to the public at 10am.

From 8am to 11am the following roads will be closed: Short Street, Marine Parade to Gold Coast Highway between Nind Street and Ada Bell Way to ANZAC Park.

Springbrook Dawn Service — 5am

Dawn service to be held at the War Memorial in Centenary Park, corner of Springbrook Road and Carrick Road, Springbrook commencing at 5am. Service only (no march).

Springbrook Citizens Service — 10.45am

March assembles at 10.20am at the general store on Forestry Road, Springbrook. March commences at 10.30am and proceeds along Forestry Road, Springbrook Road and Carrick Road to the community hall for a memorial service at the Cenotaph.

Surfers Paradise RSL Dawn Service — 5.30am

Fall-in outside the Surfers Paradise RSL on Beach Road at 5.15am, march to The Esplanade, Surfers Paradise Beach (opposite Trickett Street) for the dawn service at 5.30am.

Following the service a gunfire breakfast will be served at the RSL.

Surfers Paradise RSL March and Civic Service — 12pm

The noon parade will fall-in on The Esplanade, from Soul to Elkhorn Avenue from 11.30am.

The march will commence at 12 noon sharp and continue along The Esplanade, turn right in Cavil Mall and continue through Surfers Paradise to the Cenotaph in Cavill Park, Cavill Avenue (next to Melba’s) for the Civic Service at 12.30pm.

Upper Coomera/Maudsland Dawn Service — 5.30am

The dawn service will be conducted at the War Memorial in the gardens of QCWA Hall, 161 Maudsland Road (opposite the Coomera Lodge Hotel).

Arrive from 5.15am for a 5.30am start. A gunfire breakfast will be provided afterwards by the Helensvale Lions Club.

Upper Coomera Community Service — 9am

March assembles at Coomera School of the Arts, Gawler Place, Upper Coomera at 8.30am. The march commences at 9am and proceeds along Reserve Road onto Oxenford-Tamborine Road to Cenotaph.

A memorial service will be held at the Cenotaph at Charlie’s Crossing Road, Upper Coomera at 9.30am. Following the service, a community BBQ will be held at Siganto Park, Gawler Place. All welcome.

Oxenford-Tamborine Road between Maudsland Road and Reserve Road will be closed from 9am to 10.30am, detours in place.

Reserve Road at Oxenford-Tamborine Road to Highland Reserve Roundabout will be closed from 9am to 9.30am.
